[HARARE, February] —  NMB Bank’s digitization drive of putting “the bank in the hands of the customer” means opening an account is easier than ever. Customers can instantly open accounts from anywhere in Zimbabwe by simply dialing the USSD shortcode *241# and NMB Connect on their phones. The more geographically widespread the customers became, the more critical it became that the bank be accessible in all areas of the country - making sure that no matter where they are, they are guaranteed convenience and NMB’s promise of excellent customer experience. NMB Bank partnered ZIMPOST in order to bring the bank closer to the customers.

 

ZIMPOST has an expansive network across Zimbabwe with over 200 locations nationwide, including some of the country's most remote areas. The 109 activated ZIMPOST agents added to the bank’s existing 13 branches simply mean that – NMB Bank is now closer to you. One no longer needs to travel long distances to deposit, withdraw cash, or access other banking services. The large network also translates to decongested branches, shorter queues, and efficient service delivery.

 

NMB Bank is highly digital, with clients able to initiate deposits and withdrawals from the comfort of their homes on the NMBConnect App or *241#, collect, deposit, or complete the digitally initiated transactions at any branch or Agent nearest to them. Likewise, any ZIMPOST agent one visits offer paperless service, with unique codes generated for each transaction, so as to safeguard all clients. 

So how does the bank manage such a vast network? The network is set up using a “hub and spoke” model – similar to a bicycle wheel, that ensures that agents are within determined proximity to an NMB Bank branch to guarantee ongoing support. There is also dedicated NMB staff in each region, consistently engaging the agents, monitoring cash availability levels, and ensuring that customers’ experience is equal to any visit to an ordinary NMB Bank branch.
