NMB Bank's Contribution to Transforming Lives: Supporting Free Surgeries for Children with Cleft Lips and Palates
NMB Bank is proud to announce its recent corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at significantly impacting the lives of children with cleft lips and palates. In collaboration with the Global Cleft and Cranio-Facial Foundation, we have extended our support by providing financial assistance and laryngoscopes to facilitate free surgeries performed by dedicated doctors. This heartfelt endeavor reflects our commitment to addressing critical healthcare needs and promoting the well-being of our communities.
Nothing matters more for parents than having a healthy baby. No parent expects their child to be challenged when a child is born, but it sometimes happens and that’s all right. One of the most common challenges of baby development is Cleft Lip. Cleft lips and palates are conditions that affect the physical appearance and speech abilities of children. These conditions can pose significant challenges and impact a child's quality of life, self-esteem, and overall health. However, with timely medical intervention and corrective surgeries, affected children can have a chance at a brighter future.
The NMB team attended their screening process which was done in Harare on 30 June 2023 in the capital. Over 40 children were being screened or reviewed for possible surgeries to correct their condition. A parent of one of the beneficiaries of this gift said “We have searched far and wide for assistance and a mutual friend recommended this organization. I am so happy that my son will get his surgery done and have a chance to live a normal life like others.”
Part of the donation included two sets of state-of-the-art laryngoscopes. These specialized medical devices assist doctors in visualizing and accessing the airways during surgical procedures, enabling them to perform surgeries with precision and efficiency. By equipping the medical team with cutting-edge tools, we strive to enhance the overall surgical experience, minimize risks, and maximize positive outcomes for children undergoing these delicate procedures.
As an organization, we will continue to aid and assist the less fortunate to ensure that they have a better chance in life.
